Checks for Arizona and California quotes
Before you send, the builder checks your deposit and contract details against the rules below and tells you what’s missing.
- California: a home improvement down payment is capped at $1,000 or 10% of the price, whichever is less (B&P §7159.5). Above it, the builder blocks Send and explains why, unless you confirm the job isn’t a home improvement contract.
- Arizona: for jobs over $1,000, the builder asks for your ROC license number and an estimated completion date, as A.R.S. 32-1158 lists.
- Sold at the customer’s home: one switch adds the FTC 3-day cancellation notice (16 CFR 429) to the quote and PDF.

A quote counts once, in the month you first send it. Sending an updated version doesn’t count again. Card fees are Stripe’s, paid from your Stripe account (2.9% + 30¢ per US card). Quotenod takes nothing from deposits.
Questions
Who holds the deposit money?
You do. The deposit is paid into your own Stripe account, and you’re the seller on the charge. Quotenod never holds, touches or takes a cut of it. Refunds and card disputes are handled by you in your Stripe Dashboard; Quotenod shows them on the quote’s timeline.
Do I need a Stripe account?
Only to take card deposits. Connecting happens on Stripe’s own pages and creates a Stripe account in your name if you don’t have one. You can send quotes without it; customers then accept and pick a start date, and you collect payment your usual way.
What stops two customers booking the same start day?
You set how many jobs you can start per day. When a customer picks a date we hold it for 30 minutes while they pay, and it only locks when Stripe confirms the payment. A full day disappears from everyone else’s list.
Is a typed-name acceptance binding?
Under the federal E-SIGN Act and Arizona’s version of UETA, a contract can’t be refused just because it was signed electronically. Quotenod records the typed name, the time, the IP address and browser, and a fingerprint (SHA-256 hash) of the exact quote version. You get a PDF copy, and so does your customer if you added their email; they can also download it from the quote page. We’re software, not a law firm: ask your attorney about your own contracts.
Does it follow the deposit rules in my state?
For California, the builder stops a deposit above $1,000 or 10% of the price (whichever is less), as B&P §7159.5 sets for home improvement. For Arizona jobs over $1,000, it asks for the contract details A.R.S. 32-1158 lists before you send. For sales made in the customer’s home, it can add the FTC 3-day cancellation notice. It helps you include these; it doesn’t replace your own legal advice. Other states: no checks yet.
Can I cancel Pro?
Yes, anytime, from the Plan page. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for, then move to Free. Your quotes stay.
Can I get my data out?
Yes. Account → Export downloads everything as JSON plus every accepted quote PDF. Deleting your account removes your business data; your Stripe account stays yours.
